tonight i can not sleep so i decided to start the blog of my trip abroad. i feel like this is a good place to start for a few reasons.

1. my mother called to tell me that my plane tickets came to the house today. for some reason orbitz forced me to ship them home. i'm flying on september 23rd from philadelphia to boston, connecting and flying from boston to dublin, ireland, and then connecting once again and flying from dublin to berlin. i'm flying into schoenfeld, which is the airport furthest outside of the city, but i'll make it into berlin somehow. the tickets were $375 USD one way, which is not bad. i leave in the afternoon on the 23rd and get into berlin at 10 am on the 24th. worth it to save $1,300 or more.

2. i am almost finished with all of my paperwork for the study abroad office. this is totally minor.

3. i just got back from spending time in another country (montreal for the night). this may seem minor, but i still feel like it is somehow connected, especially because they speak another language there, and canada between VT and montreal is BIZARRE.

4. i spent a long time last night, and all of last week, studying my map of berlin and figuring out where i'll go and what i'll do when i get there. i also have a place to sleep for a few nights before i have to move to a hostel or even a hotel.


i'll stop here trying to connect things to my upcoming journey. there won't be much to blog about until september, i guess, but i thought it would be nice to start early. after all, this summer will be all about working and saving money for the trip, as well as buying some new berlin-clothes and talking about it nonstop. personally, i think this is a monumentous first entry.
